Iron Maw, playing

Iron Maw

A dark, brutalist visualizer, with nothing in it keyframed. Here's how it works:

The kick picked out of the spectrum

Drive everything from audio

The camera, the lights, and every bit of chrome all animate from the track. Pick a band from the spectrum that moves on-beat. A couple of nodes stretch it into a clean signal, and then it goes out to everything at once.

Nothing downstream is tied to this particular song. Give it a new track and it performs that one instead.

The camera orbiting, rolling and shaking

Move cameras procedurally

It shakes on the beat, creeps back and forth, and slowly rolls side to side. Three small behaviors, none animated by hand, mesh with no obvious loops.

Beat rising, fixtures firing in turn

Flash lights in sequence

Every beat steps forward in the pattern with a Push Flow node. Layer on additional effects like Tremolo to make the light tremble.

One mesh, laid out in rings, dancing

Dance patterns of metal

Every piece is the same underlying asset, placed by a Vizibeat Layout instead of by hand. The inner ring twists while the spikes trade beats with the punch, each hit rippling outward to its neighbors.

This is the deeper half of the build, covered in the tutorial below.

Hands on a controller, room answering

Or take the controls yourself

Swap the file for a MIDI controller and you can perform the visuals live. Reuse all the animation logic you built for the audio.
